The camera is so simple that all you can do to take a picture is looking at the finder and click. The more I use it, the more I like the colour and its simplicity.
Don't think too much, just click.
Chiang Mai City is viewed from the sky, of course I was in th airplane. Chiang Mai is third largest city in Thailand. It is located in the North. It is much different from Bangkok where you can see how modern city should look like. Chiang Mai is different, it is flat, green and hilly. There is no skyscraper there and you can hear the sound of the airplane taking on and off from most of corner of Chiang Mai.
Public transportation is not easy to access in Chiang Mai, especially for those who dont speak Thai. Thought now there has been some improvements with bus to/from the airport with air condition and wifi. However, there are only 3 main routes which stop at famous and central places only. The red songthaew or Rod Deng, meaning Red Truck is a common means to travel. It can occupy around 10 people and you need to bargain with driver for the price. The lowest price is 30 baht as mentioned in the body of the truck. Tuk tuk is less popular here than in Bangkok.
The above picture I took in Warorot area with the line of rod dengs passing by. You can buy any thing with reasonable prices from food to clothes in this area as several specific markets locate and connect each other. China town locates in this area as well. The hustle of local life with the diversity of images of China, Muslim, Southern cultures catches my eyes every time I come.
It's not difficult to find a place to trek in Chiang Mai. My favourite and regular route is the Monk trail to Wat Pha Lat (Pha Lat temple). It is said to be a trail for monk to doi Suthep in the past. The trail is nice with many trees and the sound of running stream surrounding you. Nearly the end of the trail to Wat Pha Lat, just take a rest and mediate near by the stream in the sound of birds, leaves, trees chatting to each other.
Other poplar spot that can take you the whole day is temple. One day temple trip is a good option once you want to know about the history, architecture and culture of Old Chiang Mai and Lanna or just for chatting with monk, observing locals practicing their spiritual.
